There is a sereis of books about "The Kin" by Peter Dickinson, Po's Story,Su th's Story, Mana's Stpry and Noli's Story. Not in that order. Excellent, and also "A Bone from A Dry Sea" by the same author may prove rewarding as it shows a culture from prehistoric times and echoes it's themes in the scie ntists unearthing the remains. Carol

Fiction about early man/ice age
Dear all
This summer I will be visiting the prehistoric caves in and around Lascaux. I would like to immerse myself in fiction about early man/prehistoric ice a ge etc and, who knows, it may turn into an article.
I will be taking with me the following books but wonder if you have any sugg estions of any children's YA or even adult books about prehistoric man/Neand erthals/ice age etc. I could read. I've done an Amazon serach but would rather trust those of you who have actually read and enjoyed a book.
Jean M Auel, The Clan of the Cave Bear series (I'll be re-reading this wonde rful series which finishes in the painted caves) William Golding, The Inheritors Sally Prue, Songhunter
I have also read Michele Paver, Wolf Brother series Margaret Elphinstone, The Gathering Night
Many thanks
Helen
