Just off the top of my head, I enjoyed Hit the Road by Caroline Cooney and Perfect Escape by Jennifer Brown. Both had young drivers driving away on cr oss country trips. In Hit the Road, the protagonist, a new driver, drives h er grandmother, around the country, picking up her grandmother's friends fo r a reunion. InPerfect Escape, Kendra leaves on a cross country trip, attem pting to get away from her family that pours all their attention on her bro ther with OCD, but she ends up taking him along.  Nancy Farmer's The Sea of Trolls contains a great fantasy quest journey. The Land of Silver Apples , also by Nancy Farmer, is another journey quest that fits in well with the "Beneath the Surface" summer theme. Oh, and Shift by Jennifer Bradbury is not just a bicycle journey, but also about growing up and making choices fo r yourself. The Wanderer by Sharon Creech is an about a family sailing acro ss the Atlantic, the talents they discover, and stories they share.
