On the Road

I seem to be reading lots of books which take me on a journey lately. I ha ve to say that three of the most memorable are the Lumatere Chronicles by Me lina Marchetta. Finnikin of the Rock, Froi of the Exiles and Quintana of Charyn are the titles. I find these are journeys of real heroes with feet of clay, blind spots and wonderful flaws who still make me want to get to kn ow them around a dinner table. All the books have maps and yet the fantasy world is magically unrealizable as we travel above and below ground, cross political boundaries and discover where loyalty can lead us.

I am also fond of "Blood Red Road" by Moira Young, "Shadowfell" by Juliet Ma rillier and the journeys of Elisa in Rae Carson's trilogy that starts with " Girl of Fire and Thorns." Apparently I am stuck admiring the road trips o f daring females who have fantasy adventures that require them to put themse lves on the line for something bigger than they are. Carol
