I am not sure if this title has been mentioned yet, but Louis Sachar's "The Cardturner," is absolutely wonderful, read by Sachar himself. Entertainingly sarcastic...he is fun to listen to, and the story has turned into, surprisingly, a favorite! A fictional love story surrounded by the game of Bridge, Sachar followed his instinct and went ahead in writing it although many advised him at first not to pursue the idea. I am so glad he did!

I, too, am greatly enjoying listening to "Code Name Verity" after having read the book and am again thrilled by Wein's superb writing as I listen to her novel read aloud.

I also listened today to Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Letter from Birmingham Jail, (part of the Sync YA Literature program), King's magnificent prose beautifully read by Dion Graham -- which was particularly moving after having just read Cynthia Levinson's book, "We've Got a Job: The 1963 Birmingham Children's March" -- a great pairing that brings additional depth to both.
