This message came directly to me, and I think Lauren meant it for the entire group so I am passing it along.
Lauren, your project sounds great. Do you have any pictures of the art the children did?

Hi KT, We chose to celebrate the 75th anniversary during Children's Book Week and collaborated with an art project. The 5th grade chose a Caldecott Book and designed a book cover with tag board and crayon. The covers were joined together to resemble a quilt and is now on display in the LMC for all to enjoy. We also had fun finding all of our Caldecott Medal books and the honor books. They were displayed throughout our K-12 library. The celebration will go on.

For the last week of our discussion on the 75th anniversary of the Caldecott Medal, let's talk about some of the ways we share the books with children. Do any of you host a mock Caldecott election with children (or adults)? How do you do it? Do you have favorite Caldecott Medal books you use in preschool storytimes? How about sharing them with older readers? Which ones work best? Are you planning any specialprograms or events to observe the 75th annivesary of the award?
