1) All-time favorite: In the Night Kitchen (honor). If I have to choose a gold medal winner, it's The Lion and the Mouse.
2) When I was 5ish, I was fascinated by, and spent hours staring at, the final page of The Girl Who Loved Wild Horses (2 horses wrapped around each other). But I never recommend it now, and when I see people with it, we always have a conversation. If they still have questions, I refer them to Debbie Reese:
3) Stood the test of time: May I Bring a Friend. I read this to 3-year-olds yesterday, and they couldn't get enough.
