Happy May Day! Here's a bouquet of opportunities for celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Caldecott medal this month.

ALSC Facebook Forum with Kadir Nelson - Wednesday, May 2 _at_ 12pm Eastern

Nelson has been awarded a Caldecott Honor twice, in 2008 for his illustrati on of "Henry's Freedom Box: A True Story from the Underground Railroad," wr itten by Ellen Levine (Scholastic) and in 2007 for illustration of "Moses: When Harriet Tubman Led Her People to Freedom," written by Carole Boston We atherford (Hyperion/Jump at the Sun). He is also the author of "Heart and S oul: The Story of America and African Americans" and "We Are the Ship: The Story of Negro League Baseball." As part of these Forums, ALSC will intervi ew Nelson about his Caldecott experiences. This event is open to the public and a Facebook account is not required to view. Participants can access th e forum via the ALSC Facebook page .
