Jason Shiga's graphic novel Meanwhile is an excellent book (graphic novel) to include in the STEM discussion. Jason incorporates math into many of his comics and graphic novels. He also has some interesting video online demonstrating how to make interactive comics. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v©Er7kmcPcI
Jason visited our library last year and made comics with kids and did a great job discussing geometry as he was teaching them how to build the comics. It was very popular with the 10 and up set (especially boys).
