On another note, there has been an interesting contradiction in some posts. On the one hand, large publishers are accused of not being interested in publishing Latino writers, yet multi-cultural publishers such as the splendid Lee and Low, ask the criteria for awards which require the author to be of a certain background be changed…. the book must about Latinos, but it need not be written by a Latino.. To my way of thinking, if terrific multicultural publishers cannot find wonderful Latino writers the accusations against the larger publishers are unfounded. Norma Jean
