Every time I have started composing a reply to this thread, I see an email come through that more eloquently states what I had planned to say! What a great, informative discussion.
However, I have a question that I don't think has been mentioned. Do people think that the increase in books with Latino/a cartoon/movie characters (e .g. Dora and Diego) has any bearing on the decrease of higher quality pictu re books? Specifically, I wonder if budget limitations might lead parents or an organ ization's book-buyer to purchase "character books" in lieu of other titles.
