The se columns will be written by CCBC Director Kathleen T. Horning. Bec ause she's too modest, she probably will not announce the series t o the CCBC-Net community herself.
Martha writes that K.T. will "examine one winning book per dec ade
, focusing each time on a book that spotlights the developing identity of the American picture book. K.T. In print, Horning focuses on how Mei Li helped the nascent chil dren's book field answer the question 'What is a picture book?' Online

This is one of the quite glorious ways to observe this C aldecott 75th anniversary year so carefully planned by Tessa M ichaelson Schmidt and her ALA/ALSC committee! For more infor mation, visit http://www.ala.org/alsc/Caldecott75
It's a timely underscoring of the upcoming ann ouncement of the 2013 Caldecott Medal winner.
And what a valuable resource it is for countless future readings and uses. It's one more substantial contribution offered to the book community by The Horn Book and by K.T. whose spe eches and articles are consistently significan t.
Peace, Ginny
