As a kid, I wanted to be a spy (the closest I got as a grown-up was being an intelligence analyst for the US Army Reserve). I also devoured books about WWII. So Elizabeth Wein's Code Name Verity leaped to the top of my all-time favorites list right away, not just 2012. This is one I will reread again and again.
I'm hoping it will be out in paperback next year so I can use it in one of my writing classes.
