I like this phrasing very much, race "not being a driving force of a story" is very important to know, and much more realistic than saying "race is not an issue"....for those of us living in interracial families we know that race is always an issue.
We don't live in a color blind society, nor would we want to, but having stories where race isn't the driving force is as important as having stories where it is. We do need to live a balanced life. :)
