I am currently out of the country and on limited internet access but for young children, Click Clack Moo is the perfect book for teaching children the power of organizing. Also, the Jane Addams Children's Book Award looks specifically for books with a social justice activism theme. Don't forget also Harvesting Hope illustrated by Yuyi Morales that demonstrates the power of collective action through union organizing, a theme for which we do not have sufficient books. Monica Brown's Side by Side is about Dolores Huerta's role in founding the United Farm Workers' Union along with Cesar Chavez. Finally, my favorite Get out the Vote book is Heart and Soul by Kadir Nelson. After all the examples of injustice, there is still that dear and near power of the vote to make a change. Excellent for the next few weeks. Regards from Madrid and Barcelona, Oralia Garza de Cortes
