Following on from last month’s interesting discussion about technology, I ’d like to share two announcements about Book Apps for the iPad and other portable devices. Two organizations are seeking nominations for best apps. They would love your input!
*The Cybils Book Awards* are currently accepting nominations across all categories, ranging from YA fiction to graphic novels to easy readers. I’ m especially excited to chair the 2nd Cybils Book App award and we would love your nominations. Book Apps (and all books) must be released between October 16, 2011 and October 15, 2012 to be eligible. Anyone can nominate a book for the Cybils Award. Learn more about Book Apps at the Cybils website
.
*Nominate a book for the Cybils

*AASL* (the American Association of School Librarians ) has launched the *T ask Force for Best Apps for Teaching and Learning * to help librarians select apps to share with students and teachers. This task force will develop a list of twenty-five best apps that are innovative technology tools that support instruction, teaching, learning and engage students. Nominations are being solicited for apps that encourage student engagement in learning and reinforce innovative teaching. Apps nominated should also strengthen instruction, critical thinking skills and inquiry.
*Nominate an apps via the online form on the AASL website.*
