If you are in the Madison area, don't miss Rita Williams-Garcia's lecture entitled "Fictography: The Truth about Real Live Fictitious Folk." This free public lecture will take place on Wednesday November 7, at 7:30 pm at Union South, Varsity I and II, at 1308 W. Dayton.
Rita Williams-Garcia is the author of acclaimed works for older children and teens, including the Newbery honor book /One Crazy Summer/ (Amistad/HarperCollins, 2010), /No Laughter Here/ (HarperCollins, 2004), /Like Sisters on the Homefront/ (Lodestar, 1995), and /Fast Talk on a Slow Track/ (Dutton, 1991). The lecture honors the career of longtime Harper editor and children's book author, Charlotte Zolotow. It is sponsored by the Cooperative Children's Book Center, UW Madison School of Education, and the Friends of the CCBC, Inc., and it is one of the main events of the Wisconsin Book Festival.
