The awareness of the entity of 'the book' in today's technological world is wonderfully shown in the books shared by the recent posts. When I saw this topic I also thought of ways technology is integral to characters' actions in recent stories. One picturebook that does this well is April and Esme: Tooth Fairies, by Bob Graham. The young protagonists are being mentored as tooth fairies in the modern adaptation of the children's myth, and their cell phones are the technology connecting them with their anxious parents during their first assignment. It's a wonderful story - cleverly done. Jacquelin Smith *A Critical Handbook of Children's Literature, 9th Edition*
