Hi, everyone. I don't think anyone has mentioned The Village That Slept by Monique Peyrouton de Ladebat, translated from the French by Thelma Niklaus. I remember this as a very affecting survival story about a boy and girl who are stranded and must care for an infant as well as themselves. This book has been out of print for at least twenty years. I wrote strict "Do not discard!" instructions on the book pocket of the copy in the collection of the Toronto Public Library branch where I used to work. I don't know if that copy survived, but I was pleased to see that TPL does have one reference and one circulating copy left.
