Definitely The Tall Book of Make Believe! One of my favorite books from ch ildhood. I feel so lucky to have saved my battered childhood copy and to h ave bought a reprint along the way.

 Back in Print?

It's time to move on from our middle-grade fiction discussion to our CCBC-N et topic for the second half of July:

Back in Print? We all have them: favorites that were gone too soon. At so me point, they went out of print; perhaps were even weeded from every libra ry collection you know of, fading into obscurity in everything but your own memory. During the second half of July on CCBC-Net, we invite you to talk about books you wish were back in print and back on the shelves so today ’s readers could discover them.

The idea for this topic grew out of the collection management work we are d oing here at the CCBC this summer. As we weed our Basic (core) collection we find ourselves bidding farewell to some books that are hard to part with , even if they are no longer fitting for a contemporary library collection. This led to a discussion among our staff of children's books we loved that are out of print (thank goodness for o.p. booksellers) and/or are not typi cally found on library shelves today. In our hearts, we believe there are r eaders today who would see beyond the dated aspects of many of these works and appreciate the stories and characters that we love.

So what are your wishes for books that you'd like to se "Back in Prin,t" or "Back on the Shelf" in your dream library?

Megan
