To follow up Erlene Kileen's comment: Back in the late '70's, I think, I heard Jean Craighead George speak at a SCBWI conference in Massachusetts. Afterward I told her that I found it very hard to believe *My Side of the Mountain, *but having heard her talk, I now believed every word. For a moment she looked a bit startled, then laughed and thanked me graciously. What a wonderful writer, and sharer of experience and inspiration!
