I like that book too.  And, I also love another book Peggy Rathmann illus trated called BOOTSIE BARKER BITES (written by Barbara Bottner).   Althou gh this picture book symbolizes the antithesis of friendship as Bootsie Bar ker is one horror of a bully, in seeing the MC survive and overcome Bootsie , a reader can be empowered if they encounter someone who is NOT a friend.   I have to comment on this subject because this book has been a favorite of mine for years, Ruby the copycat by Peggy Rathmann. I love the life lesson and the relationship that develops. I also adore the illus trations especially Ruby's hair, her pointy shoes, her dress with pinned-on daisies and her fake fingernails!!!
