Three friendship books from various parts of the world:
My Painted House, My Friendly Chicken, and Me by Maya Angelou, photo graphs by Margaret Courtney-Clarke gives a delightful look (visual and lyri cal) at friendship within South Africa's Ndebele tribe. And there is nothi ng like the invitation to hold a warm, soft chicken.

Crossing Bok Chitto: A Choctaw Tale of Friendship and Freedom is a haunting legend told by Tim Tingle and illustrated by Jeanne Bridges. This book wa s awarded the American Indian Youth Book Award by the American Indian Libra ry Assoc. I promise that this poignant story will stay with you for a very long time.
