Forgive my timing. I meant to send this out at the beginning of April.
Please share news of this exciting conference. And please consider attending!!
As all conflicts in the 21st century are potentially global conflicts, the approaching centenary of the first global conflict is an opportune moment for reflection. “From the Garden to the Trenches,” is the second in a series of three “Approaching War” international conferences (the first was in Australia in 2011 and the third will take place in the UK in 2013) partly supported by the Leverhulme Trust, which provided a joint grant to Newcastle University in the UK, Brock University in Canada and the University of Technology, Sydney in Australia. Our overarching mandate consists of a series of conferences exploring the impact of war, particularly the First World War, on children and childhood culture from three different geographical and cultural perspectives.
Part One: Niagara. May 10-11. Part Two: Toronto. May 11-12.
Consider flying in and out of Buffalo NY and renting a car. It's cheaper than flying in and out of Toronto and driving back and forth from there or buying bus tickets back and forth from Toronto. A person would need to fly to Buffalo on May 9 in order to get to the morning sessions in Niagara on May 10.
My partner Sarah Farley will be there with me. We are really looking forward to this experience - and this trip will be our 25th anniversary celebration.
