Today is the final round for SLJ's 2012 Battle of the Kids Books . It has been a spectacular battle --- our illustrious judges have penned

uniformly brilliant decisions for each and every match. For those of us who created this Battle the important thing is not the winning and losing, but these thoughtful write-ups by the judges, the official commentary (this year, in addition to Jonathan Hunt, we had two kid commentators who have been fabulous), and the wonderful discussion by our followers in the comments sections for each round. While the book pairing appear initially odd, the judges have been wonderful at teasing out commonalities and coming up with their own ways to determine which of the two contenders was to go forward. They are absolutely terrific!
