Nancy,

When you (or anyone on the list) use Freedman's bio of Lincoln, I'd like you to talk about what is not in the book: information of Lincoln's role in the mass execution of 38 Dakota men. It was a public hanging. There is an etching of it. I just learned of a historical marker of the hanging.

The photo of the marker is here:

I'd love to see a book that uses that photo, does an analysis of what it means, what it does and doesn't say... And, to see that book used along with Freedman's bio of Lincoln.
