In a recent post Mary Losure asked:
"Can other readers of this listthink of examples of . . . books "based on" a true story, but straight non -fiction"
One great example is Citizen Scientists by Loree Griffin Burns (Holt, 2012). In the context of describing what we can all do to help s cientists with large, long-term studies of butterflies, ladybugs, birds, an d frogs, Loree includes a variety of stories of curious kids who are involv ed in (and in one case inspired) the studies. The message is that we can al l make a difference. Even kids can undertake important projects to protect the natural world and the creatures around us.
It's a great book.
