I, too, have been following with interest. I was an avid non-fiction reader as a child. In fact, I read far more non-fiction than fiction.

Recently I have become quite a fan of the non-fiction poetry book. I think of Carmen Bernier-Grand as a bit of a pioneer here with her Cesar Si Se Puede, Yes We Can and the many biographies in poetry that have followed including her latest Alicia Alonso Prima Balerina. I also love Nest, Nook and Cranny by Susan Blackaby. It's a group of poems about animal homes organized according to habitat. It has end notes on both animal habitats and poetic forms. A more recent favorite is I Lay my Stitches Down: Poems of American Slavery by Cynthia Grady. It has extensive notes and the illustrations by Michelle Wood are just stunning.
