For the past 6 years, I have been building a K-12 Science, Technology, Engineering & Math Children Book Collection with my library colleagues. The Alice Hagar Curriculum Resource Center collection serves our pre-service teachers on campus and for local in-service teachers. I have also built up the K-12 social studies books collection (Science and Society) with a colleague who teaches the Social Studies Methods class too. You can see how the collection is being developed and what books we have purchased for the collection at our STEMSS website:
Click on the links for "K-12 Trade Books, Websites, etc." to see the grade level STEMSS trade books.
Click on the SB&F May/June 2007 article and watch our "Intro to STEMSS" video (below the article)
We have been running a Science Children's Choice type election too: under the "Outreach" section of our homepage, click on the "Mock SB&F Prize for Science Books Election" to access our rubrics, etc. There are two SB&F articles about the election and some of our past results.
