nt Lee,
0A That is so bizarre but not bizarre enough to seem implausible. T he question is makes me ask is, if true, why on earth would a bookseller ma ke such a demand? At one point I was so troubled by this head less trend that I went around to publishers at a convention to talk about i t. The reaction of all them seemed to be that they hadn't really thought of it as misogynistic. I'm glad to see from your comments and some of the oth er posts that it wasn't just me who had this response.

I don't know how much truth there is about this topic bu t I was told by a publicity director at a major house that buyers, a few ye ars back, from B N, dictated if a YA jacket cover featured a child, no head shots were to be shown (art or photography) . If so, B N would not carry the title. We did see, as Edward points out, countless novels with headless youth or merely hands and/or feet on YA jackets. J ust an interesting muse...

"FON &nbsp ; I don't think I've seen so much of this the last couple of y ea rs but there was disturbing trend for a while in YA novels to have pictures of girls on the cover with the head cropped off. It struck me as kind of m isogynistic.
