Being left out

At the beginning of their awarding, the Schneider Family Book Awards (for b ooks with characters with disabilities) were awarded prior to the ALA Inaug . Banquet because they are an ALA award and not given by ALSC or YALSA. Ev entually, ALA got them moved to the Youth Media Awards to be announced by t he ALA President. The Stonewall Award works that same way. This is sort o f the same practice that the King awards (given by SRRT) went through many years ago as they had their own ceremony and then got blended in. All the other Youth Media Awards are given by the two youth divisions of ALA. To be included in the press meeting the groups giving the awards probably need to be part of ALA -- divisions, roundtables, something. For instance, if ALISE gave an award, they would not be included even though their meeting is right around ALA Midwinter. Are the left out awards given by ALA organ izations?
