Dear colleagues, PEN American Center is accepting submissions until February 1, 2012 for the PEN/Steven Kroll Award for picture book text. The new $5,000 award will acknowledge an American or U.S.-based writer for an exceptional story illustrated in a picture book. Eligible books must have been published in the United States between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2011. Submissions are welcome from any source: writers, editors, literary agents, or members of the literary community at large. One need not be a Member of PEN to submit. Self-published books are not eligible.
