I love hearing everyone's favorites of the year.
My favorite children's chapter book of the year was: Inside Out and Back Again by Thanhha Lai
The images she portrays in so few words are amazing. This novel in verse r eally took me to Saigon during its fall, on the refugee ship and to America with Ha.
My favorite picture book was: A Pet for Petunia by Paul Schmid Petunia really wants a pet skunk, but her parents won't let her have one. She can't figure out why. Funny premise, and Schmid captures how a little girl might think very well in his dialogue.
Happy Holidays!
