Thank you, Lee Bennett Hopkins, for conveying this sad news. Anyone who ever met Florence, I expect, would always remember her--she was such a cheerful, warm-hearted person, and of course her books showed a rare sense of the ridiculous and the important. Her book co-authored with her daughter Judith, THE DAY OF AHMED'S SECRET, was one of the very first picture books to show "life as it is today" in an Arab country.
