I reviewed this book a while back and did not save the press materials tha t came with it but remember that the author said he collected these photos at flea markets and from estate sales.

I've read some discussion of the?popular YA novel, MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN, and some adults find it very creepy although it does seem to be the photographs?that bother?them the most. My understanding is that the photos are actual period photographs collected by the author and friends. They may have been staged at the time they were taken, but has anyone heard that they've been doctored for the book? I ass umed as I began reading that they had been purpose-taken, and was thrilled when I discovered that they were original. So I'd be very disappointed to f ind out they were doctored!

Anyone know for sure?
