Award-winning author Gene Luen Yang will deliver the fourteenth annual Charlotte Zolotow Lecture on Wednesday evening, October 5, 7:30 p.m., at the Wisconsin Union Theater, on the UW-Madison campus.
Gene Luen Yang is a graphic novelist who won the 2007 Michael L. Printz Young Adult Literature Award for his book "American Born Chinese." His other books include "Prime Baby" and the recently published "Level Up," among others.
A high school math and technology teacher by day, Gene always has a lot to say about comics and education, and about ethnic identity. He is an outstanding speaker and we expect a very lively and informative lecture.
The annual Charlotte Zolotow Lecture is sponsored by the Cooperative Children's Book Center of the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with support from the Friends of the CCBC, Inc.
The lecture is free and open to the public and does not require tickets. A Room of One's Own will have Gene Luen Yang's books for sale before and after the lecture, and there will be a signing.
Parking is available in Lot 6, underneath Helen C. White Hall, 600 N. Park Street, across from the Wisconsin Union Theater. Entry cost: $10. Nearby parking is also available in the City of Madison's Lake Street Ramp.
