School story

Every August I do a "Starting School Storytime" at our library, for childre n entering kindergarten. For years, the absolute favorite has been "Off to School, Baby Duck" by Amy Hest. Baby Duck has a great pouty attitude that only her grandfather can help adjust. The listeners especially enjoy Baby Duck's song, which I purposely sing riotously off key.
The new favorite, as of this year, is Pete the Cat: Rocking In My School Sh oes by Eric Litwin. Everyone gets to sing along with Pete, and I know it h elps them sing away some of their concerns about starting school.
