I liked Nancy Drew, but I loved Trixie Belden and also the Happy Hollisters (anybody else remember that fun family?). I think what I liked about both Trixie and the Hollisters is that there were many different characters who worked together, and all made important contributions in solving the mysteries. Yes, Nancy had her boyfriend and her cousins, but she was by far the cleverest--the others were just along for the ride. I also loved the Betsy-Tacy books and the All-Of-A-Kind Family.

I too have many devoted Erin Hunter fans in my library. The Clique series books have been read to shreds. Harry Potter is still going strong, and Rick Riordan has lots of fans. Jeff Smith's Bone graphic novel series are among my highest-circulating titles. Lots of kids, especially my big readers, tell me they like series because they don't have to worry about figuring out what they're going to read next. They know they have another book waiting for them that they can be sure they will enjoy.
