Hello everyone,

I just wanted to let you know of an awesome resource my organization has developed and recently posted on our website. Thanks to the amazing assistance of a local graduate student, we now have ASL Literacy Packets available for viewing and/or downloading on our website. These packets are based on seven popular picture books (such as Eric Carle's Very Hungry Caterpillar, Marcus Pfister's Rainbow Fish, and the classic tale I Know an Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly). Each packet includes a description and demonstration of the ASL signs necessary to read the book; three literacy activities - with all related handouts and manipulatives - are also included in each packet.

We feel this is a valuable resource to be used with deaf and hearing children alike, regardless of whether the teacher/librarian is familiar with ASL or not. So please feel free to spread the word!

To check out our ASL Literacy Packets, go to http://www.isrc.us/asl_literacypackets

Thanks!
