USBBY and IBBY have been mentioned a lot in this thread, but I’m not sure anyone has yet encouraged people to join. USBBY is the United States chapter of IBBY, the International Board on Books for Young People; here’s the membership information (http://www.usbby.org/join_now.htm). Student membership is only $15 a year, a real bargain! Joining USBBY or other national sections of IBBY is an excellent way to keep up with international books and also multicultural books. There’s a great regional conference coming up in Fresno, Oct. 21-23, 2011, at the Arne Nixon Center for Children’s Literature: check out the plans for “Peace the World Together With Children’s Books” (http://www.usbby.org/conf_home.htm). Early bird registration goes until July 15. I hope some of you will consider attending.

Best,

Annette

 More Global Reading Resources

Two more resources some of you may find of interest are the USBBY newsletter, which features a bibliography of recently published English translations of children's books and Bookbird: A Journal of International Children's Literature, a quarterly publication from IBBY. Past issues of the USBBY newsletter are now being archived on the web site (www.usbby.org) in PDF format. You can learn more about Bookbird at
