Virtually everyone who ractices even some modicum of what would be recognized as middle class alues is comfortable or prosperous. For example, the poverty rate for hose who have simply graduated high school and are married and have stayed arried (middle class values of education and marriage) is less than 2%

I do not want to lead this discussion too far afield, and perhaps Mr. Bayle ss and I should discuss this offline, but the above phrase requires the mos t obvious comment. Right now 67% of African American, 53% of Native America n, and 40% of Hispanic children live in single parent homes. (taken from an easily available Annie E. Casey Foundation Website on Children in Single P arent homes). You surely cannot mean to imply that the majority, or close t o it, of non-white Americans are poor simply because they chose not to prac tice middle class values --as of this were entirely a matter of family choi ce, like selecting which brand of soup to buy.
