Dear Megan,

I've been following this conversation and wanted to add an aside as it relates to titles that feature how sentient beings behave in "tight times" and a just-released picture book that takes place in a rural setting and deals with the wants vs needs scenario. (In this case, the protagonist preys on kindly peasants.) I believe my publisher just sent you this book. Betsy Bird reviewed it on Fuse #8 Production today:

Thanks for having a look, but most of all for co-editing Multicultural Literature for Children and Young Adults and for being one of the much-needed passionate voices in children's books among so many amazing people who contribute to this listserv.
