READING ALOUD

No matter what grade you teach ... pre-K or high school -- reading aloud is among the most important things you can bring to students.

The book you choose to read should be one you LOVE. Your enthusiasm for the book will soar through to your students minds and hearts.

When I began my career as a sixth grade teacher each and every day was spent reading aloud to my students. It might have been just a few minutes, a chapter, but I found time, made time to do it.

There are too many books to cite as favorites. I highly recommend THE TALE OF DESPEREAUX by Kate diCamillo, THE CRICKET IN TIMES SQUARE by George Selden, and (forgive me but it is very funny and filled with dialogue) my own, MAMA.

Happy Reading Aloud!
