Hi everyone! I'm going to be on a panel at Boston College with Lorree Burns and Susan Goodman talking about writing narrative non-fiction for kids. Here's the info:

*Tell Me a Story and Make It True: A Panel Discussion on Narrative Non-Fiction Tuesday, March 15, 2011* -

Tuesday, March 15--7:30 p.m. - Vanderslice Hall, Boston College

Everybody loves stories. What are the challenges of "telling a story" when writing non-fiction? Narrative non-fiction is a compelling and popular form for adults and children. In what ways is it similar or different from fiction? How might story-based non-fiction help us share history with young people? How does a writer blend research, character, story and voice to bring facts to life for children and young adults?

Join us for a fascinating panel discussion with three acclaimed non-fiction writers: *Deborah Heiligman,* whose latest book *Charles and Emma: The Darwins' Leap of Faith* was a National Book Award Honor book, as well as a Printz Honor book; *Susan Goodman*, whose 25+ delightful books range in subject matter from Presidential elections to chocolate chip cookies; and *Loree Burns*, author of *Tracking Trash* and *The Hive Detective*, two books in the excellent "Scientists-in-the-Field" series that present scientific mysteries and the "detectives" that attempt to solve them.

*Moderator: Gail Hedges*, lecturer at area colleges and frequent reviewer of non-fiction for children and young adults.
