Hello -
A quick reminder that voting for the only national child-chosen book awards program - The Children's Choice Book Awards - will open on Monday, March 14th. The downloadable ballot will be available here to use in your classroom or library. After you've tallied the kids' votes, you can enter them as a group into our online form. Paper ballots will not be accepted, so please tally and enter them online so each vote will count or encourage kids to enter their own votes online.
Awards will be given in the following categories:
Kindergarten to Second Grade Book of the Year
Third Grade to Fourth Grade Book of the Year
Fifth Grade to Sixth Grade Book of the Year
Teen Choice Book of the Year
Author of the Year
Illustrator of the Year
Winners will be announced at a gala
celebration in New York during Children's Book Week (May 2-8, 2011), the national celebration of books and reading. Visit the Book Week site that week to find out the winners!
Launched by The Children's Book Cou ncil in association with Every Child a Reader, Inc. (the CBC Foundation) in 2008, the Children's Choice Book Awards Program was created to provide young readers with an opportunity to voice their opinions about the books being written for them and to help develop a reading list that will motivate children to read more and cultivate a life-long love of reading.
More resources for teachers and librarians are available on the Book Week site here: http://www.bookweekonline.com/for-teachers
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best,
Nicole
