Agreed, I have a sister who has does not read at all in a family of readers. Mother and Aunt and sister teach English/Spanish, all with MA, MFA, PH.D, father who reads dense science and science fiction titles, brother who is an avid reader, role player, nurse, and me a librarian. This sister, has attention difficulties and she just never reads period. Nothing can motivate her to read a novel. She is however, writing her own family cook book. Some people are just different, and get their information in different ways.
She can also change her own brake shoes on her car. So, I can't, and how did she do that without reading a technical journal. Different kinds of intellegences.
I do wonder if audio books, graphic novels, and hi/lo books and the internet had been around when she was growing up if she would have had more access to information and if something would have helped her bridge to heavier reading.
