Writing Dangerously A Public Panel Sponsored by the PEN Children's and Young Adult Book Authors Committee Monday, February 7 at 7 p.m. Instituto Cervantes, 211 East 49th Street, New York, NY FREE There will be a booksigning after the panel.
How do children's and young adult authors approach controversial subjects, challenge convention, and confront the psychological risks of the creative process? Join moderator Beverly Horowitz, Vice President and Publisher of Delacorte Press, an imprint of Random House Children's Books, as she welcomes both new and established boundary-breakers in the field of children's literature.
Panelists include Nora Raleigh Baskin, author of the ALA Schneider Award-winning Anything But Typical and six other novels; Newbery Honor winner and two-time National Book Award Finalist Rita Williams-Garcia, author of One Crazy Summer, Jumped, and other works for children and young adults; Adam Gidwitz, author of A Tale Dark and Grimm, a Publishers Weekly and School Library Journal Best Children's Book of 2010; and Gary Golio, author of the Coretta Scott King Illustrator Honor-winning New York Times bestseller Jimi: Sounds Like a Rainbow - A Story of the Young Jimi Hendrix and the forthcoming When Bob Met Woody.
