For quite a while now, I have felt sorry for the recipients of the N/ C awards because the writers/illustrators are then subjected to a public discussion on the internet about whether or not the book should have won, etc. Historically, folk have always agreed to disagree about the choices but the internet did not exist then. I wonder what the purpose is....the choice will not be different...the book is published and cannot be changed..so....why?
We, as a country, love knocking people down right after honoring them in one way or another. No doubt because I was in publishing, I think...behind every book, there is a life! Norma Jean
