I'm enjoying reading about everyone's favorites during 2010. Many of your faves, such as "Revolution" by Jennifer Donnelly, "Ninth Ward" by Jewell Parker Rhodes and some of the longer translated books, remain on my personal "to read" list. Although my listing here is eclectic, I hope some of these books are being seriously considered for formal recognition wherever they're eligible.

LONGER BOOKS

At the top of my list all year: "One Crazy Summer" by Rita Williams-Garcia

OTHER MEMORABLE LONGER BOOKS

"As Easy as Falling Off the Face of the Earth" by Lynne Rae Perkins "The Dreamer" by Pam Munoz Ryan Peter Sis "A Gift from Childhood: Memories of an African Boyhood" by Baba Wague Diakite "The Good, The Bad, and the Barbie" by Tanya Lee Stone "Queen of Hearts" by Martha Brooks "They Called Themselves the KKK" by Susan Campbell Bartoletti "Unraveling Freedom" by Ann Bausum "Where the Streets Had a Name" by Randa Abdel-Fattah "Will Grayson, Will Grayson" by John Green David Levithan "Yummy" by G. Neri Randy DuBurke

SHORTER BOOKS

Two books I hope will be seriously considered by the awards folks are:

"13 Words" by Lemony Snicket & Maira Kalman (This send-up of "beginning to read" books is pure genius.) AND "Paris in the Spring with Picasso" by Joan Yolleck & Marjorie Priceman

OTHER MEMORABLE SHORTER BOOKS

"Biblioburro" by Jeanette Winter "Big Red Lollipop" by Rukhsana Kahn "Goldilocks and the Three Bears: A Tale Moderne" by Steven Guarrnaccia (companion to his The Three Little Pigs: An Architectural Tale) "Good Night, Commander" by Ahmad Akbarpour Morteza Zahedi "Napi Makes a Village" by Antonio Ramirez Domi "Seeds of Change" by Jen Cullerton Johnson Sonia Lynn Sadler "What If?" by Laura Vaccaro Seeger "Wolf Wanted" by Ana Maria Machado Laurent Cardon

Cordially, Ginny
