One Crazy Summer-Rita Williams-Garcia. (I read this early on, and it has re mained my favorite book of the year.) Keeper-Kathi Appelt Zora and Me -Victoria Bond & T.R. Simon Countdown-Deborah Wiles Finding Family-Tonya Bolden

Nonfiction:

They Called Themselves the K.K.K. The War to End All Wars-Russell Freedman Sugar Changed the World-Aronson/Budhos Nic Bishop Lizards

Picture Books:

Dave the Potter-Hill/Collier Pocketful of Posies-Sally Mavor Sick Day for Amos McGee-Stead/Stead Dark Emperor-Sidman/Allen (I love the poetry and the art.)

I'm sure I'm neglecting a favorite or two, not being in my office at home, surrounded by books.
