Every year during the holidays, my Teen Advisory Board puts together "book bags" for families with children coming to the local food bank. The bags ( approx. 75-100) are divided into boxes for several age ranges, and each con tains a book (either new or gently used), stickers, bookmarks, and various odds and ends (tiny stuffed animals, puzzles, water bottles, etc.) left ove r from the reading programs here at Northbrook Public Library. I always ge t the biggest turnout for this meeting. The kids love gathering together t he goodies for the bags. Lots of fun - and hopefully it puts something che ery into the recipients lives.
